LAWTON, OK – The Oklahoma Site Ready Program managed by the Oklahoma Department of Commerce has approved Lawton Airport Industrial Land as the 37th certified site in the program. The objective of the Site Ready Program is to make business relocation, expansion and development in Oklahoma as inviting as possible.
“The Site Ready Certification program is a prime example of how valuable state and local partnerships can be,” Lawton-Fort Sill Economic Development Corporation President Barry Albrecht said. “When site selectors are searching through hundreds or even thousands of industrial land options, certifications like Site Ready can highlight a site on a national and even global level.”
"Speed is often of the essence for businesses competing in the global economy,” said Dave Lopez, Secretary of Commerce and Tourism. “That puts a premium on having a site already certified so that developers can be assured they can proceed quickly when they bring investment and jobs to Oklahoma."
Working in partnership with Oklahoma Gas & Electric (OG&E) and the Public Service of Oklahoma (PSO), the Oklahoma Department of Commerce works to capitalize on economic development opportunities through community efforts employing the program.
A site’s successful completion of the Site Ready process guarantees a prospective incoming business that the site is ready for construction. As businesses attempt to minimize risk, locations with shovel-ready sites emerge as top choices.
The 68.5 acre newly certified site is owned by the Lawton-Fort Sill Economic Development Corporation, which is a not-for-profit corporation supported and led by the communities’ business leaders, city government, and top academic institutions. The Lawton-Fort Sill EDC collaborates closely with other entities throughout the Southwest Oklahoma/Lawton region and the State to ensure a globally competitive and sustainable regional economy through quality job creation.
