Oklahoma Main Street Center Announces Latest Reinvestment Figures (April 2013)

(Oklahoma City, Okla.) – Figures released from the Oklahoma Main Street Center announce program totals for February and a local community program hitting a private reinvestment milestone. 

Downtown Bartlesville, Inc., a Main Street member since 2010, reached the $5 million mark.

“We are delighted to achieve this milestone of investment in downtown Bartlesville since the beginning of our Main Street status almost three years ago,” said Mark Haskell, board chairman for Downtown Bartlesville, Inc.  “Thanks to our downtown private property owners and businesses in partnership with our local government, we are just getting started and look forward to having more good news to report in the future."

In addition to the community news, information gathered for February from the 38 active Main Street Communities including three urban areas includes:

  • More than $29 million in both private and public reinvestment
  • Nearly 30 building façade renovations
  • More than 8,220 volunteer hours
  • More than 235 jobs
  • More than 42 business openings, relocations or expansions

Cumulative numbers for the entire statewide program since 1985 include:

  • More than $1 billion in both private and public reinvestment
  • More than 4,200 façade rehabilitations
  • More than 1 million volunteer hours
  • More than 14,600 jobs
  • More than 4,600 business openings, relocations or expansions

The Oklahoma Main Street Center is one of 42 state coordinating programs around the nation.  Under the National Trust for Historic Preservation, Main Streets across the nation, operate off of the Main Street Four Point Approach™ including Organization, Design, Promotion and Economic Restructuring.
