International Business Workshops

Workshops sponsored by the Oklahoma Department of Commerce, the Oklahoma District Export Council and the U.S. Export Assistance Centers are generally conducted annually with classes alternating locations between Oklahoma City and Tulsa.

The workshops are designed for Oklahoma companies currently constructing an export strategy or those who have taken the plunge and want to build on those initial steps into the global market. Experts provide detailed information on a broad range of topics, including export assistance organizations, basic export market research, choosing an export strategy, organizing an export operation, pricing, establishing overseas markets, communications, and methods of payment and financing.

Export Readiness Assessment

Before you can successfully export, you need answers to the following questions:

  • Is my company ready for international trade?
  • Will my products meet the demands and requirements of the global market?
  • Do my products meet the needs of foreign consumers?
  • Can I navigate the red tape of the export-import world on my own or will I need a third-party‚Äôs help?
  • Where will I find suppliers and partners?

To help companies answer these questions and determine their export capacity and readiness, the Oklahoma Department of Commerce offers a free software tool known as CORE-Company Readiness to Export.

A self-assessment application, CORE gives you the tools needed for an export strategy. Developed by the Center for International Business Education Research (CIBER) at Michigan State University, the acclaimed tool helps Oklahoma businesses identify exporting strengths and weaknesses and outline a plan of action.

The Oklahoma Department of Commerce charges nothing for you to subscribe to this export readiness tool.

How to Subscribe to CORE

To use CORE, companies must first attend a consultation with Commerce staff. After a brief tutorial, businesses are given access to the CORE program for 3-4 months. If needed, we will renew for extended time period free of charge. This allows companies to use it as a reference tool and continually evaluate progress.
