The Oklahoma Department of Commerce (Commerce) went to Duncan to meet with the Duncan Area Economic Development Foundation and tour the Halliburton Manufacturing Center. Duncan is home to the company’s manufacturing center as well as a technology center.
Spanning more than 1 million square feet, the facility manufactures and services equipment to efficiently control the production of oil and gas from the time a well is drilled until the producing formation is depleted.
During the tour, we were able to see the operations and talk with plant officials about workforce, training, production and more. The company’s successful public-private partnership with Duncan Public Schools has been instrumental in developing the area’s workforce.
Founded in 1919, Halliburton is one of the world’s largest providers of products and services to the energy industry. Halliburton’s fascinating and proud history reveals a continuous focus on innovation and expansion that began with the company’s founder, Erle P. Halliburton. After borrowing a wagon, a team of mules and a pump, he built a wooden mixing box and started an oil well cementing business in Duncan, Okla.
