The Oklahoma Southwest Alliance (OSA) recently held their first educational Economic Development Conference in Weatherford on the campus of Southwestern Oklahoma State University. The conference brought in many speakers who discussed economic development strategies and various state and federal programs that are in place and can assist communities with projects.
During the conference, representatives from Commerce’s Business Development team presented to the group. We covered the six building blocks of economic development, how to respond to an RFI (request for information) or RFP (request for proposal) and how the Oklahoma CareerTech system can help local communities.
OSA is a regional economic development group, which serves 20 counties in western Oklahoma. The organization’s mission is to be a strong, unified region and to bring economic and community development to all the communities in the area. Two of Commerce’s Regional Development Specialists, Brandy McIntyre and Roger Pulley, are regional partners with OSA.
