Stillwater City Council approved a 2016 CDBG project to construct ADA-compliant sidewalks along Airport Road from Wings of Hope toward the public bus stop. A ceremony with remarks from representatives from the City of Stillwater and Wings of Hope was held on November 14, 2018.
This Community Development Block Grant project was financed in part by funds from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development as administered by the Oklahoma Department of Commerce. Matching funds were provided by the City of Stillwater. Oklahoma State University provided the bus stop canopy and benches and the City of Stillwater installed them.
Fair housing is the ability of persons of similar income levels to have available to them a like range of housing choices regardless of race, color, sex, religion, national origin, marital status, family status, age, or mental or physical disability. The City of Stillwater is committed to the support of the Fair Housing Law, Title VIII of the Civil Rights Act of 1968 in our community.
This ADA sidewalk is an example of the City’s support as it connects the residents of the Wings of Hope Family Crisis Services center to the Stillwater community.
