Stryve Biltong, the leader in biltong snacks, proudly announced the opening of a new production facility in the city of Madill on November 15th. Biltong is a cured meat food that originated in Botswana, South Africa, Zimbabwe and Namibia, and is similar to beef jerky.
The 52,000-square-foot facility will allow for 30,000 square feet of production and will enable the company to become the largest processor of biltong in the U.S. On November 15th, the local chamber of commerce co-hosted a ribbon cutting ceremony with prominent local dignitaries in attendance to celebrate the opening of the facility and the 50-75 jobs expected to be brought to Madill in 2019.
“We are honored and humbled to partner with the city of Madill to bring new jobs and contribute to the success of the community,” said Stryve Biltong CEO Gabe Carimi in reference to the new facility. “The size and scope of the new facility is a direct response to our rapid growth as a brand and the need to increase production capacity.”
Stryve Biltong recently secured a $10 million investment from a variety of investors, led by Meaningful Partners, an investment firm focused on purposeful and mission-oriented consumer facing challenger brands, and Murano group, a privately-owned holding company, among others. The decision to use the funding toward a new facility was necessary to fulfill the rapidly-growing orders and achieve higher standards of certification.
“The Oklahoma Department of Commerce is proud to have worked alongside the city of Madill and Stryve Biltong to bring this project to fruition,” said Deby Snodgrass, Secretary of Commerce and Tourism. “We aim to bring economic development opportunities to every part of the state and we are happy to have helped bring this new facility to Madill.” City Manager James P. Fullingim agreed, saying, “The City of Madill is excited to welcome Stryve to our community. While working with the owners, their dedication and commitment to our community became clear. They not only want to see their company grow, but also to see our city grow. We look forward to assisting Stryve with their opening and any future needs that the city may provide.”
